ALL IMAGES COPYRIGHT OF SPENCER OWENS IMAGING

I’ve had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. When I was 5 years old, I took a close-up picture of a bee taking nectar out of a flower and I thought it was the coolest thing to be able to capture that image. I have always loved art and design and being able to create and capture moments in time from a different point of view. My family always jokes about “Spencer’s life through the lens” because I always have a camera in my hand. I enjoy viewing life’s little details that way.

At 17, I really began merging my love of photography and my love of motocross together. I started riding motorcycles at the age of 5 and racing at the age of 8. There’s no doubt that my family is a “moto” family so when my moto and photography life collided it was a little exciting, to say the least.

I was fortunate enough to meet the best motocross photographer in the industry, Simon Cudby, at a San Diego Supercross event. He looked at some of my photos, gave me some advice, and within a few weeks, I had an internship with Racer X and Simon. I learned so much during that time and I will always be so grateful for the opportunity. I’m not going to lie, capturing riders blowing out a corner or doing a whip in the air gives me a rush but, being an artist and photographer is who I am so, I am always looking for new and exciting opportunities to use my talents.

Being a freelance photographer has enabled me to bring my graphic design knowledge and artistic touch to many different types of projects. Helping to capture a unique moment or shoot something from a different perspective is always exciting. I love the variety of what I do, and I am truly able to say I’m living my dream.

My family is a huge part of my life. We are very close, and their support and unconditional love mean the world to me. My philosophy is that we should all motivate, inspire, and empower each other to be the best that we can be and to step forward and make a difference in whatever we can.

So, thank you for being here and I hope you enjoy “My life through the lens”.
